This day is to raise awareness of the largest wild cat in the world. Tigers have amazingly diverse habitats: rain forests, grasslands, savannas, and even mangrove swamps. Human activity has led to 93% of the loss of historical tiger lands. Saving tigers means saving forests, which is important to maintain the health of the planet Earth. Tigers are solitary animals with an association between mother and offspring. They roam across large areas also known as the home ranges.


History:

This day was founded in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in Russia to raise awareness about the loss of the tiger population globally. The tiger range countries have resolved to conserve these species globally. The commitment of WWF's is aimed at Tx2- the global goal to double the number of wild tigers by 2022.
